Wildcards
A wildcard is a symbol used to replace or represent one or more characters in a search string. Wildcards are typically either an asterisk (*), which represents one or more characters or question mark (?), which represents a single character.
Wildcards can be used in all searchable screens except the Nomination Entry screen.
An asterisk (*) is a wildcard that is irrespective of the number of characters. For example, entering B* in the Shipper field would return all results with a shipper that begins with the letter B, limited by your security settings.
- A question mark (?) is a wildcard for a single character. For example, entering BP? in the shipper field would return all results the account has access to that starts with BP and is three characters long.
- A comma (,) allows you to enter multiple codes. For example, you can enter M2, M4 in the product field to search for those two grades only.
- A hyphen (-) allows you to search for a range inclusive of the endpoints. For example, entering 16-18 in the cycle field will return data on cycles 16, 17, and 18.
- You can enter a mix of the above such as M*, 1?1, 201, 500-599. Entering 68-72, 01-04 in the cycle field returns data for the end of the year as well as the beginning cycles of the upcoming year.
